Best Workout Tips to Optimize Fat Burning
Workout in a fasted state -- why? Fasting puts your body into a state of steady fat burning for energy. Exercise in fasted state and you just boosted your fat burning calories much more than exercising after eating or in non-fasted state!
Mix it up! Try a new class / sport / type of workout -- why? No matter what you do, your body’s main goal is always efficiency. That means if you’re doing the same 2-3 classes/workouts week after week you’re body is now burning less calories despite the same amount of time than you were when you first started.
The shorter and the sweatier, the better! Long, cardio sessions can disrupt your natural cortisol cycle…if cortisol gets out of whack from going too long, it starts signaling your body to store fat. HIT workouts are the best way to go to keep cortisol in balance and boost fat burning up to 24 hours post workout! Long slow sessions burn fat during, that is if you are a fat adapted burner, but they do very little to keep the fat burning up in the hours following exercise. Pick any amount of time ranging from 20 to 90 second bursts, go as hard as you can and rest until you are FULLY recovered…until heart rate has recovered….repeat as many times as you can in 20 minutes! The key is going 100% in the efforts and full recovery so that each effort can be maintained at 100%....this will have the best fat burning effect!
Spice it up! Sip on some green tea or cayenne spiked water prior to workout to enhance fat burning!
And if we don’t drill it into you enough….get that h2o in daily!! Half your body weight in oz of water and add a capful, tablet or capsules of electrolytes…this will have you feeling better and able to adjust better to those early, fasted state workouts!
