Trader Joe’s to the Power of seven GREEN > Organic Juice Beverage!

This week Katie Nelson is sharing a new product from Trader Joe’s that she and her family love. Let’s talk about the pros and cons of smoothies verses juice. Both have great aspects and Katie believes in VARIETY!!!

Smoothie or Juice?! Basic nutrition guideline: variety is always key to obtaining nutrient balance.

JUICE: Juice packs more nutrition per ounce, it is better absorbed for those who suffer from GI/ digestion issues, and can be higher in sugar, lack fiber and thus has the potential to increase blood sugar.

SMOOTHIE: Smoothies make better meal replacement options. Don’t be afraid to add those healthy fats and proteins to normalize blood sugar levels, contains fiber to boost gut health and digestion.

What about the Celery juice craze?

YES! Celery juice packs quite a punch of important nutrients but are these nutrients more important than others? No! You need ALL the nutrients to keep the wheels turning…. if you mega dose (have celery juice everyday) the wheel gets lopsided creating deficiencies in other areas! For example, copper and zinc compete for the same receptor site so if you take high doses of just one of them over time you overload that receptor with just the one creating a deficiency in the other. We need it all guys! EAT THE RAINBOW! Keep VARIETY, alternate COOKED and RAW….. each has it’s own benefits!

Try Trader Joe’s new “to the Power of seven Green juice” Let us know how you like it. Add it to a smoothie or drink by itself, it’s low in sugar and will add that variety that Katie swears by!
